Live Oak fell to 0-2 in nonleague play.

Acorns’ season ends with loss Friday at Mount Pleasant
SAN JOSE — The Sobrato boys basketball team has a week to move past a surprisingly close regular-season finale and prepare for the Central Coast Section playoffs.

A day after they held off a pesky Hill team, 59-52, Friday in San Jose, the Santa Teresa Division-champion Bulldogs (18-6) received a favorable No. 7 seed and a pass through the opening round of the Division II tournament. Sobrato first-year coach Lee Washington was hoping his team would steal the No. 4 spot and get two byes, but the Bulldogs still have a charming draw.

Thursday night (the game time has not been announced), they will host either No. 15 Woodside (14-12) or No. 10 Gunn (12-12) with the winner advancing to a quarterfinal Saturday against No. 2 Archbishop Mitty.

Sobrato, which had 11 points and 10 rebounds from Chris Bradley and 17 points from Bryan Bradley on Friday, has never earned more than one win in a CCS basketball tournament.

Mount Pleasant 65, LO 53

Live Oak’s last chance of becoming eligible for the CCS playoffs was put to rest Friday as the Acorns lost their West Valley Division clincher at Mount Pleasant.

A win would have given Live Oak a .500 record in league. Instead, the Acorns finished 6-8 and 9-15 overall.

Senior center Dominic Leach went out with a career night, collecting 26 points and eight rebounds, and senior guards Michael Schreiber and Cody Gallizioli added 13 and eight points, respectively, for the Acorns.
