Morgan Hill gymnasts Sarah Payne, Rachel Ditta and Lauren Spicer, who compete for Almaden Valley Gymnastics Club, continue to excel and improve as their meet season continues.
At the Begonia Fest Meet on Sept. 7 in Santa Cruz, Lauren Spicer, who competes at Level 6 in the 9-10 age group, won first place All-Around with a score of 36.2.
Spicer also was first place champion on bars with a 9.l25 and on floor exercise with a 9.025.
Sarah Payne, who competes at Level 6 in the 11-12 age group, won first place on bars with a score of 8.35 and took third place on beam with a score of 8.1. She won third place All-Around with a score of 33.0.
Rachel Ditta, who competes at Level 5 in the 8-9 age group, took a second place on beam with an 8.175 and won fourth place All-Around with 30.6.
The Almaden Valley Gymnastics Club Level 6 team won second place as a team and the Level 5 team took first place as a team at the meet.
On Saturday, Sept. 20 at Peninsula Gymnastics’ meet in San Mateo, Payne took first place on bars with a score of 8.75.
Payne won second on vault with a score of 8.81 and third place on floor with a score of 7.75. These, combined with her beam score of 8.0, earned her a third place All-Around.
Ditta scored second on beam with a 8.725, second on floor with 8.25, third on bars with 8.4 and third on vault with 8.15.
Ditta won third place in the All-Around with a total of 33.525. Spicer did not compete at this meet.
