Winning the coin toss, Crossroads quarterback Manny Ramirez opened up the game with a quarterback option and took it in for the touchdown, but the Eagles missed the two-point conversion.

The San Juan Padres also scored a touchdown in the quarter to tie the score at six. The offensive line consisted of Adam Becerra, Nick Ramirez and Jared Ciapham helped Ramirez lead the team in rushes. Running back Zachary Fedalizo ran for several yards and a first down bringing the team within scoring distance many times. Both wide receivers Andrew Johnson and Justin Ching executed the reverse and double reverse plays that brought positive yardage throughout the game.

Defensive ends Justin Ringer and Dominic Leach made several tackles behind the line of scrimmage, throwing the Padres for a loss over and over.

The Padres scored their second touchdown in the fourth quarter to take a 12-6 lead to secure the win .

Volleyball

Cross Roads Christian opened up it volleyball season against Aromas at Anzar High School on Sept. 23.

The Crossroads seventh grade team won the match 25-16,25-14. Co-captain Sarah Martin served 12 of the team’s points. The Crossroads eighth grade team narrowly beat the Aromas “A” team 25-22, 25-17. Robyn Edwards served up 10 points in a row during the first game. Right after that match, the CCS eighth graders played again against the Aromas “B” and also won this game 25-17, 25-15.

In the second game against Sacred Heart in Hollister, the seventh grade team lost 25-16, 24-26, 15-13.

The eighth grade match was won by the Eagles 25-17, 25-21, 25-21.
