The number of homeless individuals and families continues to swell due in large part to a lack of affordable housing and increased poverty.

The Emergency Housing Consortium (EHC), Santa Clara County’s largest provider of shelter, housing and supportive services, having seen the reality of this trend in its 23-year history, has restructured to manage the growth of the diverse homeless population it serves. Decentralizing into divisions based on client need, EHC has announced the formation of divisions for single adults, families and youth.

“While the makeup of the homeless population in Silicon Valley has changed over the past few years, the need has not,” said Barry Del Buono, president and CEO of the Emergency Housing Consortium. “People keep coming – families, singles, youth. Our decentralization will allow us to focus more specifically on the needs of each group while maintaining and expanding the quality of the services that we provide to them.”
