Fraud: Safeway reported someone wrote a fraudulent check for $246.52. The report was taken on Sept. 10 at 10:21 a.m.
• Burger King reported a suspect attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 bill one evening, and came back the next day with the same bill. The report was taken at 12:35 p.m. on Sept. 10.
Auto burglary: A Morgan Hill resident reported his wallet containing identification, cash and credit cards was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at the Post Office. He told police he could not remember if the vehicle was locked or not. The report was taken at 2:56 p.m. on Sept. 10.
Trespassing: A resident of the 1400 block of Fieldshire Way reported intruders in her attic. She later told police they may have jumped over her fence to get away. The report was taken on Sept. 9 at 6:58 a.m.
Burglary: Copeland Delgado Insurance reported someone broke into the business office and ransacked it. It was unclear at the time of the report if anything was stolen. The report was taken on Sept. 10 at 6:33 a.m.
• Martinez Construction reported someone broke into the business office and ransacked it. It was unclear at the time if anything was stolen. The report was taken on Sept. 10 at 7:04 a.m.
• YMCA day care at Paradise Valley School reported someone entered the room and stole walkie talkies. There did not appear to be forced entry. The report was taken at 1:11 p.m. on Sept. 10.
Vandalism: The Morgan Hill skate park was vandalized overnight. The damage was described as “excessive tagging.” Caps from spray paint cans were found in the park. The report was taken on Sept. 10 at 9:12 a.m.
Grand theft: A federal tax refund check for $2,160 was mailed to the wrong address and cashed by someone at the address. The report was taken on Sept. 10 at 11:27 a.m.
Petty theft: A resident of the 17200 block of James Lex Lane reported he was in his garage fixing a computer when a male ran into his open garage and took his son’s bike. The report was taken at 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 9.
• A resident of West Second Street reported outdoor lights were stolen from the front yard of the residence overnight. The report was taken on Sept. 10 at 8:21 p.m.
SHERIFF
Rape: Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man named “Gabriel” who allegedly raped and abandoned an area woman early Sunday morning in the parking lot of a Chevron gas station near Casa de Fruta on Pacheco Pass Highway.
Deputies described the incident as a “date rape.” Gabriel (last name unknown) and the woman were reportedly friends and had just been visiting her relatives in San Jose, deputies said. On the drive home, at 1:50 a.m., Gabriel pulled over at the gas station on Highhway 152 and tried to initiate sex, the woman told deputies. She told him she didn’t want to, but he said he’d beat her up if she did not comply, she claimed.
After Gabriel had sexual intercourse with her against her will, she ran away, she said. He reportedly drove away in an unknown direction in the vehicle, which was his.
Gabriel is described as being Hispanic, about 5 feet 10 inches and 165 pounds.
Attack: Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who allegedly attacked a 15-year-old San Martin boy and had oral sex with him while he was unconscious.
The attack and sexual act took place at about 11:15 p.m. Sept. 18 near the corner of Monterey Highway and California Avenue in San Martin, the boy told police, but he waited to report the incident until 4 p.m. Sunday.
The victim was walking home from the bus stop when he was struck hard from behind by a person and knocked unconscious, according to police. He reportedly woke to find himself being sexually attacked by by a man he described as about 35 years old, Hispanic, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 200 pounds, wearing a white tank top and blue or black jeans. The man had a smell of alcohol about him, the boy told police.
The man reportedly walked away as the victim was regaining consciousness. Police say he faces felony charges for assault with a deadly weapon and oral copulation.
