Pinto Division
Angels 14, A’s 8
For the Angels, Ryan Mitchell hit a a home run, Sean Silveira had a triple and RBI, Holly Lam had a double and RBI, Westyn Herscovitch had a triple and two RBIs and Jessica Mitchell had a hit. For the A’s, James Cinnamond had a home run. Jesus Burns had a triple and RBI and Tyler Ronland had a single and RBI.
Defensively for the A’s, Colton Boulware made a nice stop and Nicholas Swanson started a double play.
Reds vs. Mets
Ty Gardner hit a three-run home run for the Reds. Joey Davey rounded the bases and reached home on wide throws.
Joey Davey and Kevin Nielson had RBI triples. The Reds also had RBI singles by Daniel Ancheta, Brett Kirchick, Dylan Kral, Blake Porzio and Nielson.
Offensively for the Mets, Kyle Kinsey hit a three-run home run and Joey Persons hits a three-run triple and RBI double.
Frankie Tomasello, Matthew Bergantz, Jordan Heintz and Kyle Kinsey had RBI singles.
Defensively for the Reds, Nielson on the mound stopped two line drives and threw to Kirchick at first to get the out each time.
Kirchick and and Curtis Theard also pitched well. Kral made a nice stop in right field to prevent extra bases.
Tyler Keen, Tomasell and Pearsons pitched for the Mets. Tomasello stopped a hard-hit ball and threw to first for the out.
Pearsons fielded a ball and beat the runner to first in a foot race for the out.
Mustang Division
Mariners 7, Twins 3
Chase Chadband had a strong outing on the mound for the Twins. Kane Palacios got his first hit and steal of the season.
Andrew Smith fielded a hard line drive at second base and threw to first for an out. Hunter Sutton and Dominic Bejerano helped offensively to lead the Mariners to victory.
Bronco Division
Angels 11, Indians 6
The Angels broke through in the third inning for nine runs. R.J. Wright lead off with a single to get things going. J.P. Howard broke the deadlock with a one-out base hit that brought in two runs. Chris Horvatich, Eric Dean and Matt Scepura rallied with two-out singles to keep the rally going. Howard pitched four shutout innings for the Angels.
In the sixth inning, the Indians turned it on with four runs of their own. Connor Sutton led off with a single, and James Gomez and Isaak Ramos added a pair of RBIs to tighten to knot.
The late-inning rally fell short in the top half of the seventh with the bases loaded and none out as the Angels turned a 1-2-3 double play.
Vincent Moreshini went 3-for-3 and scored two runs for the Angels, while Jeff Smith had two hits for the Indians.
Pony Division
Twins 8, A’s 7
The Twins and the A’s opened up their Pony Division season with an exciting 8-7 game. The Twins scored the first run of the game when Vince Hatakeyama singled and later scored on a ground ball by Josh Dubek.
The A’s came back to take a 2-1 lead. Andrew Chiri singled and scored on a double by Ryan Evanger. They went up 3-1 on a ground out bay Nick Carlson that scored Taylor O’Connell, who had doubled.
The A’s took a 6-1 lead after four innings. Gary Vye pitched the first four innings giving up one run for the A’s. In the fifth inning, the Twins came back and rallied for five runs with the help of four walks and a hit batsman.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Tim O’Rourke doubled and scored on a single by Matthew Kelly to give the A’s a 7-6 advantage.
The Twins rallied again in the top of the seventh inning.
Steven Davis led off with a walk, stole second and scored the tying run on a throwing error on a ball hit by Derek Pastorino.
Hatakeyama’s second hit of the game sent Pastorino to third where he scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
In the bottom of the seventh, Joey Woodworth, who pitched the final three innings allowing one run and striking out seven, set down the A’s to give the Twins the victory.
Defensively in the game, Alonzo Torres had a nice running catch in right field for the Twins, and Brett Silvetti of the A’s had two nice catches in the outfield.
