The Acorn boys team lost 116-68, and the girls team was defeated 111-74. The JV boys lost 57-35, while the Live Oak JV boys won 103-74. The girls team competes against Notre Dame Tuesday.
Live Oak Freshman Justin Short (2:00) just touched out in the 200 IM ahead of San Benito senior Nikk Barr (2:02.5) to take first place. But Short is out for the rest of the season after breaking his leg in a biking accident.
It was all Hollister in the rest of the events. The boys team was without David Dunn during the match. Divers Lee Bee (201.05) and Stephen Shope (188.80) continued to have strong showings with first and second place.

Track and field
The Live Oak varsity track team was no match for the private schools of Notre Dame and Palma last Thursday. But the freshmen and sophomore teams both recorded victories.
The young Live Oak team has been practicing at Britton Middle School this year while the Live Oak track is being renovated. Coach Dean Raymond hoped to have the track for a couple meets this season, but school officials estimate that the rubber won’t be laid down until after graduation is held on the cement.
The Live Oak varsity boys lost 90-36. Jason Alcarez winner was the winner of the half-mile with a time of 2:08.4. He placed second in the mile and second in the two-mile. Billy Wong placed first in the two-mile at 10:47.Ashkaun Chakamiam won the high jump event with a height of 5’6”. Kris Mott placed second in the half-mile and second in the 400. Noel Mayor claimed second in the 200.
The Live Oak girls team was defeated 81-45. Heather Molyneaux, who was part of the winning 4×100 relay team, won first first in 100 and 200. Shelly Hart took first in 100 hurdles. Nikki Weatherford placed first in 400s and second in 200s. Leanne Lopez in 100 hurdles took second, and took second in the triple jump as well. Elizabeth Johanson brought home a second place in the 300 hurdles. And Tonya Tenoria placed second in shotput.
The frosh/soph boys won 66-61, and the frosh/soph girls won 75-35.
“It seems like over the year seems we seem to always be competitive at the younger levels,” Raymond said. “But they either go somewhere else don’t tryout later.”
Jesus Atanacio led the frosh/soph team with three first places: in mile, half-mile and two mile. Brandon Powell won both the high and intermediate hurdles.
Ashley Ceassar won the 100s, high jump and pole vault for the girls. And Yesenia Miranda won the mile and half mile events.
