at the April 23 City Council meeting. The contest, open to all
Morgan Hill students, was held during February.
Anthony Eulo, assistant to the city manager, announced the winners of the 5th Annual Recycling Rewards Poster Design Contest at the April 23 City Council meeting. The contest, open to all Morgan Hill students, was held during February.

Designers of the four, first-place posters each received a $100 award, and all winners were presented with a Certificate of Recognition from Mayor Dennis Kennedy at the council meeting.

Hundreds of entries flooded the City of Morgan Hill.

“The students of Morgan Hill continue to show their concern for the environment through their artwork,” Eulo said. “I am always extremely impressed with the effort and quality of work demonstrated in all of the entries.”

The annual contest is timed to coincide with Earth Day in April. The winning posters will be displayed at the Morgan Hill Community Center by early May and will be featured in the 2004 City of Morgan Hill Eco Calendar, which is mailed to Morgan Hill residents each December.

The 2003 Recycle Morgan Hill Poster Contest Winners are: Grades K-3 winners: 1st place, Marissa van Rhijn – Morgan Hill Country School; 2nd place, Amy Liu – Morgan Hill Country School; 3rd place, Allen Engle – Carden Academy; and Honorable Mentions, Brittany Hall – Barrett Elementary School, Emily Hovanessian – Morgan Hill Country School, Clara Kennedy – Morgan Hill Country School, Steven Marquez – Carden Academy, and Nicholas Hamilton – Morgan Hill Country School.

The grade 4-6 winners are: 1st place, Meridith Diddens – Morgan Hill Country School; 2nd place, Zachary Thomas – Paradise Valley School; 3rd place, Ailee Feber – Morgan Hill Country School; and Honorable Mentions, Thomas Lau – San Martin/Gwinn Elementary, Moira Scanion – St. Catherine, Alyssa Barsanti – Morgan Hill Country School, and Petra Halbur – Carden Academy.

Grades 7-9 winning entries are: 1st Place, Matice McClellan – Morgan Hill Country School; 2nd place, Erica Margetich – Martin Murphy Middle School; 3rd place, Stefania Mercante – Carden Academy; and Honorable Mentions, Erin Lawless – Morgan Hill Country School, Carissa Pausanos – Martin Murphy Middle School, and Katie Rule – Martin Murphy Middle School.

Grades 10-12 winning entries are: 1st Place, Ian Webb – Live Oak High School; and 2nd place, Ryan Shepard – Live Oak High School.
