The position of the ball in your stance is another fundamental that is so often over looked I thought it should be mentioned today.
Starting with the width of your stance, your feet should be shoulder width from the inside of your heels. If they are on the outside, your stance will be too narrow. You want to have a wide enough base to support your swing and maintain your balance.
Next you want to note that the bottom of your swing is where you want to make contact with the ball. That sounds obvious, but think about the type of divot you take if any. Is your divot deep, often starting behind the ball instead of slightly in front of the ball? Or do you not take a divot at all? If so, this might be a ball position problem
Starting with let’s say the 7 iron, position the ball in the center (in front of belly button) of your stance. Working toward your wedges, go back of the center and work toward your long irons. You want to be front of center. In both cases, you don’t want to place the ball for normal full shots. Remember the ball should not be further back or forward from your arm pit.
The driver should be placed in front of your left heel and the fairway metal slightly behind of that.
Pay more attention to detail and where the ball is being placed in your stance, and you should have better and more consistent ball-striking rounds.
