Going into the fifth inning, the game was tied at 1-1, but the Athletics scored two runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and three in the seventh for the win.
The Athletics started off by defeated Saratoga 10-1. In the game, Andrew Cummins was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Doug Porras was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Eric Nelson was 2-for-3, Ryan Bennett had a pair hits including a double and two RBIs. Michael Paresa threw six solid innings, and Jess Dimas closed out the game.
Against Campbell, the Athletics with just 11 players available were able to pull out an 8-6 win. Morgan Hill was down 6-3 before coming back with four run in the fifth inning and one in the sixth inning.
Bryce Wilson was 1-for-2 with two walks and three stolen bases for the Athletics, and Porras was 3-for-4. Those two hitters at the top of the lineup combined to score six of the Athletics eight runs.
Shane Christman was 1-for-2 and knocked in a run on a squeeze play. Dimas pitched the first four innings. Dimas picked up the win after coming in relief.
The Athletics will play Tuesday against Fremont, and Nelson will get the nod on the mound. If the Athletics win, they will play for the championship on Thursday.
The Morgan Hill Colt Giants lost both of their games in the tournament. In the first game, the team lost to Fremont 11-9. Michael Sorci, who was 2-for-4, hit a two-run home run.
Joe Miller pitched six strong innings. In the second game, the Giants lost to Saratoga 7-2. Nate Miller hit a home run. Justin Trask and Juan Villa were both 2-for-4.
