Domingo “Americano” Garza Cardona died July 5, 2003, in Gilroy.
Mr. Cardona retired from Gilroy Foods after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Velia Padilla Cardona; children Arthur Vargas Jr. and wife Mary of Sacramento, Frank P. Vargas of Gilroy, Erlinda Vargas of Sacramento, Daniel P. Vargas and wife Chris of Sacramento, Jennie Velasquez of Sacramento, Stella P. Gaucin of Hollister and Dolores P. Garcia and husband Benny of Hollister; grandchildren Arthur, June, Katrina, Frankie Jr., Jesse, Teresa, Robert, Lisa, Nicole, Juanita, Alfred Jr., David, John, Michael and Michelle; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Rita Rodriguez of Sanger, and Frances Garcia of West Laco, Texas and two brothers, Domingo Cardona of San Antonio, Texas and Carlos Cardona of West Laco, Texas. He will be also missed by Shorty.
Funeral services were Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church followed by entombment at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
Arrangements were under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.
