The Morgan Hill Colt All-Star team won the Section tournament held this week at Live Oak.
Against Fremont on Tuesday, Morgan Hill held on to win 4-3.
The teams had seen each other three other times coming in to the game, and Morgan Hill won 5-4, 7-4 and 14-5.
Doug Porras came in relief of Eric Nelson in the seventh inning. He struck out a batter with a full count and got the final batter to ground out for the save.
Porras did both offensively and defensively, going 2-for-3 and making a nice bare-hand pickup to throw the runner out, ending the threat in the sixth.
Nelson pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs. He had three walks and three strikeouts.
Morgan Hill threatened constantly but was not able to take the lead until late in the game.
Shayne Christman went 3-for-3 for Morgan Hill and scored a pair of runs.
Catcher Jake Boslog struggled at the plate but came up with a pail of nice throws to nail runners trying to steal second base.
The Athletics advance to the Regionals. The top two teams advance.
