Two men were arrested and one is still at large after a stabbing that occurred southeast of Morgan Hill on July 4 at 9:15 p.m.
The stabbing occurred following a fight between the victim and three other men. The 24-year-old victim, a Morgan Hill resident, escaped from his attackers and called police from his cell phone, said Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Terrance Helm.
The victim was taken to Saint Louis Regional Hospital in Gilroy where he was released after treatment for a cut across the left side of his jaw.
Helm said the fight was the result of an argument.
“These were people who knew each other, worked in the same area,” he said. “They got into an argument that led to the fight that led to the stabbing.”
There is no evidence that the attack is gang related, Helm said.
The suspects – Andres Estrada Lopez, 41, and Josefat Estrada Hernandez, 20, both of Morgan Hill – were arrested at the scene shortly after deputies arrived. They were booked into Santa Clara County Jail in San Jose on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
Both suspects are still in custody and will be in court this afternoon.
According to Helm, the victim is unclear who stabbed him.
The third suspect fled the scene following the stabbing. He has not been identified and is only described as a Hispanic male adult.
The attack took placee in an unincorporated area of Morgan Hill between Highway 101 and Monterey Road at Maple and Seymore avenues.
