Local voters will find absentee ballots showing up in their mailboxes in coming days, giving them the chance to vote early and avoid election day lines.
The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters began mailing out the ballots this week.
Voters who would like to receive an absentee ballot by mail must submit a written request to the registrar of voters’ office by 5pm on Nov. 1.
Absentee applications are available on the cover of the sample ballot and online at www.sccvote.org. Requests may be mailed to P.O. Box 1740, San Jose, CA 95109 or faxed to (408) 293-6002.
Early voting takes place weekdays from Oct. 11 through Nov. 7 at the registrar’s office at 1555 Berger Drive, Building 2, in San Jose. Early voting will also be available during the last two weekends before the election.
Residents have until Oct. 24 to register to vote in time for the November election.
