Renaissance Pleasure Faire job fair this Saturday.
Lords, ladies and peasants alike are invited to the 37th annual Renaissance Pleasure Faire job fair this Saturday.
Approximately 500 positions are available for cashiers, security and access-control personnel, maintenance workers, food-and-beverage servers, sales clerks and more.
Those hired will help visitors step back in time to a 16th Century village where more than 1,000 costumed performers wander the streets, artisans sell their crafts and knights in shining armor duel.
“The faire is entertaining, so employees have to be outgoing and theatrical. They will be in costume and it’s a long day in the sun, so being energetic is important,” said Venta Leon, beverage and catering director.
The Renaissance Faire is also looking for applicants who love to work with people and are available every weekend from Sept. 6 to Oct. 16.
“We want people who will connect with us, have their own costume and come back every year,” she said. The Pleasure Faire will offer costume workshops for those hired.
They will accept workers 16 years old and over. Students should have a proper work permit. Most employees will be paid minimum wage.
Each person will have an opportunity to speak with faire representatives and fill out an application. Applicants are asked to dress comfortably and bring a hat and water. They should enter at gate six at the Casa de Fruta complex on Pacheco Pass Highway (Highway 152) east of Gilroy starting at 9 a.m.
The faire has expanded this year to include 20 exhibitions and demonstrations.
“We are delighted to return for the second time. It’s the 37th annual faire and we are looking forward to another opportunity to celebrate the harvest” Leon said.
There will be five stages, 150 crafts booths and 18 food booths. Whether guests participate in the turtle races or tomato toss, sample delicious artichokes or walk around with a huge, juicy turkey leg, they are sure to have a unique and memorable experience, Leon said.
The Pleasure Faire runs Saturdays and Sundays and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for adults, $17.50 for juniors, seniors, students and military, $9.50 for children 5 to 11 and free for children under 5. Parking is free, preferred parking is $10.
