My friend Lennie was having the same problem, and this is a guy who played college golf. At the of time of this conversation, we were practicing for a mini tour event. He came up with a move that reminded him of a dance step that was popular at the time he called it the rock.
What he did was lift his right heel and as it went down, the swing would be set in motion. Gary Player would kick his right knee to trigger his swing, Jack Nicklaus turned his head to the right and Ben Hogan would turn his right hip in then move it back to start his swing.
Jim Mclean calls this the Micro Move. Call it what you may. It all comes down to a movement that will allow you to smoothly start your swing. I find when I do this my swing starts without me thinking about every detail to the mechanics that I’ve been working on.
Remember when you are playing the game of golf, you would be better served if you would allow for more imagination and less mechanical thought. You never want to start your swing from a stationary position keep the body in motion and you’ll start your swing much smoother.
