Anthony Costa of Fresno died May 20, 2003, after a difficult battle with lung cancer. He was 75. Costa, born in Fresno, lived from 1966-73 in Morgan Hill’s Paradise Valley community. A retired District Principal Auditor who had enjoyed a long and successful career with the California State Board of Equalization, Mr. Costa had, in retirement, also represented taxpayers as a licensed Enrolled Agent. As a young man he served both in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army.
In his spare time Mr. Costa enjoyed tending a fruit and vegetable garden, rebuilding cars and tractors, reading and spending time with his family. His loving and honest nature will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Anthony Costa is survived by his wife, Toni of Fresno; children Michelle Costa of Cambria, Kim Costa of Oakland and Kevin Costa of Gilroy; granddaughters Brandi and Vanessa Rodriguez of Gilroy, Jasmine and Jenelle Costa of Morgan Hill and Natalie Rodriguez of Cambria; grandson Danny Boswell of Fremont; niece Dena Gorski of San Jose and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Valerie L. Costa, who died in a 1982 plane crash.
A celebration of Costa’s life was held May 23, at Northwest Chapel, Fresno. Private graveside services at Mount Hope Cemetery, Morgan Hill, will occur soon.
The family asks that any donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
