The No. 2 seed Yankees may have won 13-3, but it wasn’t until the fifth inning when they scored five runs that the Yankees were able to pull away. They finished their season with a 12-3 record.

In the first inning, the Yankees picked up a pair of runs off of the hard throwing Alika Bantilan. Daniel Salazar walked and stole second and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Ramos. Rauley Cambra, who walked, stole second and than third as he took advantage of a momentary lapse in the Giant concentration. He scored on a bloop double by Ryan Williams.

The Giants got one run back in the bottom of the first after three walks and one hit batsman without the benefit of a hit.

In the second inning, Ramos, at catcher, threw out a runner at third base as Williams put the tag on.

The Yankees added two more runs in the third inning after Ramos walked and Williams singled and Wishman singled them home.

The Giants got as close as they would get in the third inning. Bryan Bradley started off with a bunt single for the Giants, and Jared Thomas was safe on an error. Bantilan and Chris Bradley knocked in runs with with groundouts.

Leading 4-3 going into the fourth inning, the Giants exploded for five runs. Ramos led it off with a walk, and Cambra and Williams singled. Dylan Palmer knocked in a run on a fielder’s choice. With two outs, Dalton Terry singled for two more runs. Salazar followed with a hit to knock in the final run even though he was thrown out at second base.

Perez pitched five innings to keep the Giants off balance, giving up two hits. Cambra pitched to close off the game with two scoreless innings.

The Yankees scored again in the sixth inning. Ryan Herraez started off with a single in and moved to third by a pair of groundouts and was knocked in by Williams’ single. In the seventh inning, the Yankees added three runs for good measure.

Wishman singled. John Reichert walked. Terry reached on a fielder’s choice. And Salazar, Ramos and Cambra knocked in RBI singles.

Defensively, the Yankees did it also. Cambra made several good plays at short. Second baseman Palmer made a good catch on high fly ball ranging into the outfield.

Geno Curiel had a tough time at the plate for the Giants, getting hit twice. In the last four inning, the Giants only were able to work out one hit. That was by Brandon Steputat. But the Giants hit the ball hard. Bantilan, Shane Kendle and Mason Lammers made the Yankee defense work with their long, hard swings.

Bryan Bradley and Thomas hit the ball hard to third base, but they were both fielded by Williams.

The Yankees were coming off of 6-4 win over the Angels, who finished in second place in the American League.

Herraez went five innings and confused the Angels with his offspeed pitches. For the Angels, Michael Singleton pitched four innings, and JP Howard came in to pitch two scoreless innings.

The Yankees took a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning, and the Angels came back with two in the sixth. Horvatich, Singleton and Howard, all had two hits for the Angels. Rick White singled up the middle to start the Angels rally.
