Radio personality, song writer and rock musician Greg Kihn will descend upon Morgan Hill this Thursday evening to sign his new book, talk with his adoring fans and entertain them with his CDs on a dedicated sound system.
The book, “Carved in Rock, Short Stories by Musicians”, is the fifth for the busy musician.
The 98.5 KFOX “Kihn in the Morning” show host is making his only independent bookstore appearance at downtown’s BookSmart.
“We’re expecting so many people we may have to set up outside,” said BookSmart owner Brad Jones. But, since the store’s exterior is the site of the popular Friday Night Music Series, he doesn’t expect difficulties.
Kihn’s is also noted for featuring adoptable pets in his Pet-O-Rama, for actively supporting the troops as well as his interviews with other notable musicians – Paul McCartney, for one.
Kihn and his band have recorded “The Break Up Song”, “Jeopardy” and, most famous of all, “They Don’t Write ‘em Like That Anymore”.
• In other downtown bookstore news, on Saturday at 3 p.m. Mary Ford-Grabowsky will bring her book “Woman Prayers – Prayers by Women From Throughout History and Around the World” to the public. The book includes readings from Janine Canan, Christina Hutchins, Jan Steckel and Dorothy Walters.
• On Sunday, June 29 at 2 p.m. BookSmart will host its first-ever nation-wide best-selling author, Ann Packer, author of “Dive from Clausen’s Pier”. The book perched on the bestseller list for many weeks. Packer is a Bay Area author.
BookSmart, 17415 Monterey Road at West Second Street, 7 p.m. Details: www.mybooksmart.com or 778-6467.
