That’s what happens when you join the Library’s Summer Reading Program. Children from kindergarten through age 12 can sign up for this fun summer activity. Read eight books this summer, and you’ll earn a book of your choice.

In addition to all the reading, we’re planning special events for the following Wednesday afternoons:

June 25: Heroes 24/7. Meet Morgan Hill firefighters and see a real fire truck – up close.

July 2: Oklin Bloodworth: You can “dance, hop, wiggle, and sing” with this lively performer.

July 9: Wildlife Associates: Live animals at the library? Yes!

July 16: Puppet Show: Morgan Hill Puppeteers present wolf stories – aarroooo!

July 23: Samba Safari: Sway to the bouncy South American beat of drums and singer Robin Hulsey’s magical voice.

July 30: Award Party: Receive your certificate, pick out your free book, and enjoy refreshments.

All of the above events are for school-age children and begin at 2 p.m. The exception is the July 9 Wildlife Program, which starts at 3 p.m. You may sign up any time through July in the Children’s Department of the Library. If you have any questions about the program, please call 779-3197 and ask to speak to a children’s librarian. This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Library. We thank them for their wonderful support.

Questions and suggested topics for At the Library, which appears in Tuesday editions, should be directed to Nancy Howe, acting community librarian, at [email protected] or by calling 779-3196. The Morgan Hill Library, located at the corner of Peak and West Main avenues next to City Hall, is open every day but Sunday.
