Starting the fourth inning with just a two-run lead, 11-9, the Cubs continued to pour on the offense, scoring five runs on three walks, and singles by Mitchell Pasek, Mike Jarvis, Matt Cummings.
The Cubs’ offense added two more runs in the fifth inning on singles by Kyle Kinsey, Matt Jarvis, and Pasek, then tacked on five more runs in the top of the sixth.
The Cubs started their show of offense in the first inning on an RBI single from Andrew Bueno, who then stole third and scored on a fielder’s choice by Matt Jarvis.
The Cubs added another run on a double to right field by Mike Jarvis, who also scored on a single by Cummings.
The Sox got back into the game in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs on a single by Mitch Crowley, who stole third and took home on a passed ball, sliding in just under the tag.
