Morgan Hill – The Morgan Hill Raiders Junior Pee Wees rolled to a 31-6 win over the East Bay West Wolverines at home Saturday.

Morgan Hill pounded out 232 rushing yards and spread the ball around with four different backs rushing for at least 44 yards.

Drew Glines paced the Raiders with 80 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns. Daniel Dunhan had 52 yards on nine carries and a score, Trevor Bearden rushed for 49 yards on four carries and Taylor Turnipseed picked up 44 yards on three carries.

The game was tied at 6-6 in the first quarter when a Jason Struzik block sprung a big 24-yard run for Bearden, who had scored the Raiders’ first touchdown.

A 15-yard face mask penalty made the play a 39-yard pick up and five plays later Glines followed a Struzik block around the right end for a 1-yard scamper to cap the drive and give Morgan Hill a 12-6 lead it would never relinquish.

The Raiders added to the lead in the second quarter when Dunham scored from a yard out and Glines added the two-point conversion as Morgan Hill went into halftime with a 19-6 advantage.

Morgan Hill piled on in the second half. A defensive stand pinned East Bay deep in their own zone and when the Raiders got the ball back, Glines took the ball on the first play and scored from nine yards out.

When the Wolverines got the ball back, the Raiders defense stepped up again. Nathaniel Batad and Bearden both broke up key long passes and when Morgan Hill regained possession, Glines broke free for a 20-yard touchdown run for his third score of the game.

In a tough and physical game, the Raiders delivered in the big moments. Mitch Crowley had three sacks and forced a fumble to lead the defensive effort. Dalton Craig had a fumble recovery and Garrett White had a blocked punt that Turnipseed recovered to provide other big plays for Morgan Hill.

Turnipseed finished with two solo tackles, Bearden had four open field tackles, two of which stopped East Bay from scoring on long runs, and Batad added two solo tackles and had three assists.

Brandon Sorce picked up the running load in the fourth quarter, grabbing seven yards and a first down to help seal the win.
