Morgan Hill – Police are looking for a suspect in the burglary of a local gas station, but they found and arrested Tuesday night two suspects in a rash of auto burglaries.

Morgan Hill police Sgt. David Swing said the alarm company used by the Valero gas station at 14660 Monterey Road had a “live feed” of the burglary early Tuesday morning.

According to the report, a male suspect entered the business at approximately 12:45am, possibly through the roof of the building, and stole a cash box containing a small amount of money.

“All we have is that the suspect is a male who was wearing a dark sweatshirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes,” Swing said. “Nothing else could be determined from the video.”

Anyone with information about the suspect or the burglary is asked to contact the MHPD at 779-2101.

Later on Tuesday, at approximately 9:45pm, Swing said, two 18-year-old males allegedly broke into several vehicles parked in the VTA lot at the Caltrain station on Butterfield Boulevard.

“A passerby reported several car alarms going off in the parking lot and two suspects leaving the area,” Swing said.

Officers found three vehicles with shattered windows in the lot, and one suspect was found walking southbound on Butterfield Boulevard.

When Ernesto Moreno, 18, of San Martin was arrested for alleged auto burglary, Swing said, “he was wearing a jacket he had (allegedly) just stolen from one of the vehicles.”

A camera was also stolen from one of the vehicles, he said.

Moreno was booked into Santa Clara County Jail along with a second suspect, James B. Estill, Jr., 18, of Gilroy.

Estill, who was on Morgan Hill’s “most wanted” list, also had an outstanding $35,000 warrant for burglary and receiving stolen property. He was arrested in the area of the Terracina Apartments, Swing said.

“We had a great witness; the case might not have been solved if not for the witness, who saw the other suspect (Estill) in a different location, saw him walking along Butterfield near Diana and came back and told the officer,” Swing said.

Moreno and Estill were arrested without incident.
