Morgan Hill – The Live Oak Acorns girls varsity track and field team continued their winning ways against the Sobrato Bulldogs on Thursday at Sobrato as Live Oak topped the Bulldogs.
The Acorn girls defeated the Bulldogs, 76-58. Freshman Olivia Duran continued to step up for Live Oak, placing first in the 800 meter (2:42.62), the 1600 meter (5:37.69) and the 3200 meter (12:57.64). Lisa Herrera placed second in the 3200 (13:24.62). Rebecca Webb finished first in the 400 (1:06.92), Courtney Robinson placed first in the 200 (27.08) and Katie Armstrong earned first place in the 300 hurdles (53.75)
Denae Chappell placed first in the shotput (28′.5″) and the discus (88’5″) and teammate Tiffany Baldwin placed second in shotput (27’6.25″) and discus (75’5″).
“Overall I was pleased with the girls’ efforts,” said Live Oak coach Dean Raymond.
Alex Cervantes finished first in the 100 hurdles (17.81) for the Bulldogs and Katie Alton placed first in the 100 (13.05). Ariel Mosbrucker had first place finishes in the high jump (4’10”) and the triple jump (30′.5″) for Sobrato. Jill Peterson took first in the long jump (13’9″).
“I thought it was a great meet,” said Sobrato coach Dennis Martin. “We just came up a little bit short.”
The Acorns boys varsity defeated the Bulldogs, 104-34, earning their first league win.
Dustin Muhn had first place finishes for the Acorns in the 100 (11.51), the 200 (23.86) and the long jump (19’2.5″). Nic Muhn placed first in the 300 hurdles (45.33) and Jon Hart finished first in the 110 hurdles (17.83). In the field events, Jim Mallette placed first in the shotput (42’9.5″), Tom Russo won the discus (115’5″), James Hamblin (5’4″) and Mark Cedeno won the triple jump (37’10”).
Freshman Lance Wolfsmith placed first in the 800 (2:11.15), the 1600 (5:00.79) and the 3200 (11:29.94), Eric Woodruff finished first in the 400 (54.88) and Will Cambra earned first in the pole vault (9’6″) for the Bulldogs.
