Hospital reports Sunday incident to police
Morgan Hill – Morgan Hill police detectives are not yet sure what happened to Fermin Escobedo, 18, in an assault case that seemed suspicious from the start, according to police Cmdr. Joe Sampson.
Saint Louise Regional Hospital called MHPD to report Escobedo had been assaulted on Sunday at his home. When officers investigated, they learned that Escobedo is living with a legal guardian, his aunt, while his parents are in Mexico.
The assault took place, Escobedo told police, when the boyfriend of his 16-year-old cousin brought 10 of his friends to the residence on Gallop Drive.
The boyfriend, allegedly named Jesse, and his friends allegedly beat up Escobedo after he complained about the boyfriend taking some of his clothes.
The boyfriend and his friends then allegedly took more items, including speakers and a jacket.
“He was a victim twice,” Sampson said.
Saint Louise Regional Hospital representatives told police Escobedo had a fractured jaw, contusions, bruises and scrapes.
Sampson said officers went into the garage of the residence where the fight allegedly took place and found blood on the floor.
Meanwhile, Escobedo’s cousin has run away, Sampson said, and she is believed to be with her boyfriend.
