Spirit of Morgan Hill Juniors Tournament
Moonbeams 13, Rockets 3

On Wednesday evening, May 10th, the Moonbeams had a smashing opening game against the Rockets. In regular season play, the Rockets were one of only two teams to successfully beat the Moonbeams.

After a couple of weeks of hard practices, the Moonbeams felt prepared to open the juniors tournament against the challenging Rockets. Erica Ramirez was the opening pitcher with Mackenzie Mitchell catching behind the plate. Erica was very effective with her consistent fast ball shutting down the Rockets heavy hitters. Jenna Havstad came in to pitch the closing two innings and gave her best performance to date. Her accurate and lightning fast pitches were unstoppable.

The Rockets were determined and got a few fabulous hits which scored them a total of three runs. Great defense by Christine Himebauch at second base and Jodie Turner in center field helped to keep the Rockets scoring to a minimum. On the offensive side, the Moonbeams broke out into an awesome hitting spree. Mackenzie Mitchell started off with her first ever home run. The rest of the team joined in the fun by all batting at least one double in the game. Christina Arace, Lindsey Maragoni, Jessica Mitchell and Olivia Vukcevich all contributed with great hitting and base stealing. In the end the Moonbeams scored a total of 13 runs for the win.
