Traffic stop leads to drug arrest, meth and marijuana found in
suspect’s home
Morgan Hill – A 58-year-old Morgan Hill woman missing from a group home for several hours was found early Thursday morning as she tried to commit suicide.
The woman was last seen Wednesday night at approximately 10:30pm near a Morgan Hill bus stop. At approximately 5:30am on Thursday, Morgan Hill Police received a call that a woman was lying in a creek bed in four feet of water. She was allegedly lying in Little Llagas Creek near West Main Avenue.
Police Cmdr. Terrie Booten said when officers Joe Burdick and Jason Broyer and Cpl. Shane Palsgrove arrived at the creek, they found the woman standing up in the creek, but she was unresponsive.
Booten said officers attempted to communicate with her for a while, but she did not answer, and she then submerged herself in the creek.
She quickly came up again for air, Booten said, and when she went under a second time, officers were preparing to go in after her. She came up, and Palsgrove was able to grab one of her hands. All three officers pulled her up the bank of the creek to safety.
Booten said according to the missing person report from the group facility, the woman has a history of schizophrenia.
Later Thursday afternoon, MHPD officers and the department’s street crimes unit found drugs and drug paraphernalia after a search of a Morgan Hill residence.
Morgan Hill Police officer Greg Dini pulled over Isa Suud, 39, for a traffic infraction and an alleged drug deal. Because Suud was on probation, Dini and the street crimes unit conducted a follow-up probation search of his home.
Booten said officers found a digital scale for weighing narcotics, a Bible with a secret compartment, a pair of nunchucks, 11 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 17.5 grams of marijuana.
Suud also had .6 grams of crystal methamphetamine on him when he was arrested, Booten said.
Suud was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for alleged possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of an illegal weapon and violation of probation.
