Will there be more auto dealerships?

“More than a year ago there was a proposal to expand the Courtesy Chevrolet dealership at Dunne Avenue and Walnut Grove Drive into a vacant lot on Walnut Grove Drive. Additionally, Walnut Grove Drive was going to be opened to through traffic via Dunne.

“I now see a big sign that reads ‘Future Home of Lighting World’ at the Dunne exit. What’s the plan for this area?

“There are many residents in the Diana Estates community that are opposed to Walnut Grove Drive being opened to through traffic.”

RED PHONE :

Two years ago there was talk in the city to bring two or three auto dealerships to the Walnut Grove Drive neighborhood, and expand the road to through traffic, sparking neighborhood backlash. According to Morgan Hill City Manager Ed Tewes, the city has dropped plans to bring dealerships, but is still looking to one day opening Walnut Grove to through traffic. Trader Joe’s has begun construction of a new store in the neighborhood, slated to open by Thanksgiving. Tewes said the city still plans to expand the area commercially, and buffer it with additional residential units.

He also noted any further development is on the back burner. The Crimson Crusader took a lovely tour of Morgan Hill, but could not find any sign for “Lighting World.” Tewes said there is a church called “Light of the World” being constructed on Diana Avenue and Walnut Grove Drive.

After doing a little bit of research on the Internet, we found several Web sites for Christian churches and organizations that use that name.
