What did you do this weekend? Chances are you did whatever you

Well, the Morgan Hill Bronco Division All-Stars had the pleasure of enjoying the hot, humid climate of Brentwood while playing in the Pony Baseball Regional Playoffs.

And despite a pair of losses, this team should be commended for its work, especially its play in the tournament opener on Thursday.

The youngsters stayed up well past their bedtimes to grab a first-round win.

Morgan Hill’s game against tournament host Brentwood was slated to start at 8pm, but it didn’t get underway until 9pm because of delays from the earlier games.

Once it began it turned in to a wild game, lasting more than three hours and getting done after midnight.

For Morgan Hill to hold on for an 11-10 win, the final out coming when Brentwood had the bases loaded, showed great focus for a group of 11 and 12-year olds.

By the time the team got home from their game it was about 2am, but I’m sure they would all tell you it’s worth it for a win.

The games that continued over the weekend, played it temperatures well over 100 degrees, is enough to make me tip my cap to all the teams involved in that and any tournament.

About the last place you could’ve told me to go this weekend was outside, unless there was an iced down swimming pool.

Yet, these kids braved the conditions to go out and play some baseball. You’ve got to commend the tournament directors for adjusting game times to avoid the hottest hours of the day. Even so, emergency crews were called to treat players and fans.

The two losses were tough, but the kids showed how strong they were by making it that far and earning a win in the regional tournament in the process.
