Red Phone

“Dear Red Phone, whom do I call about weeds growing in various places in the city, making it very difficult to navigate some driveways and roads in the area? Thank you.”

Red  Phone: Dear Whom Do I Call, Red Phone gets a call similar to this every year beginning about this time. According to Anthony Eulo, program administrator with the city, if someone suspects that the weeds are on private property, they should call the city’s Code Enforcement Officer, John Amos, at 778-6480, Eulo said.

“If the weeds are suspected to be on public property, they should call the city’s corporation yard at 776-7333.” If someone prefers to report the problem online, they should go to www.morganhill.ca.gov and click on the “Report A Concern” button on the right side of the page – roughly in the middle. Once they arrive at the “Report A Concern” page, click the first choice, “General Inquiry” and submit the form. These inquiries are checked daily Monday through Friday.

“Finally, if the weeds are suspected to be in public land along a county road, the number to call is 683-1241,” Eulo said.

Well, there you go, good caller. All the information you need to keep your vision clear of weeds as you drive around town.

Fine, penalty for red light is $225

“Red Phone, how much is the fine for running the ‘Do Not Turn on Red’ sign coming off northbound U.S. 101 at Dunne Avenue? It appears every other car tries to beat the traffic coming east over the hill. What about a camera there? Might bring in some much needed revenue for the city. Thanks Red Phone.”

Red Phone: Dear What’s the Fine, according to police, the fine for a right turn on a red light is $35, but there is also a penalty of $190, for total of $225. As for revenue from cameras, the city sees a small percentage of the fine, not the penalty, so the money coming into the city wouldn’t amount to much.

Hope that helps.
