Are you someone who enjoys contributing to large efforts? Are you looking for an easy, low-commitment opportunity to improve Morgan Hill? If so, come one, come all because May 19 is City Beautification Day. This is your opportunity to beautify our town.

We have an assortment of projects available from planting to trimming to picking up litter.

For individuals and families, we coordinate working groups to march along the streets cleaning up litter on sidewalks and planter areas. For larger groups, typically organized by churches, scouts and service groups, we assign particular projects, often in a park, for the group to address. In the past, volunteers have dramatically improved the appearance of many civic areas.

Here are some of the particular projects we have planned this year:

n Painting at Galvan Park

n City Hall shrub planting

n Painting at the Diana Estates tennis courts

n Downtown trash pickup

n Landscaping improvements on Bonnie View Court

n Cleanup of West Little Llagas Creek

n Trash removal in drainage off Trail Drive

While these are the planned activities, if there is a part of town that you particularly want to address, contact us and let us know. We are happy to accommodate you and your friends and can usually provide the supplies needed for nearly any beautification activity on public property.

So come with a group or come by yourself … but by all means do come. The event takes place at 8 .m. Saturday May 19. Meet at City Hall, 17575 Peak Ave.

Bring water, gloves and sunscreen. We’ll be having a celebratory barbecue lunch at City Hall after the event prepared by the Morgan Hill Kiwanis.

Individuals who want to know more can call 776-7333 or en*****@mo*********.gov. (Note: you don’t need to call – just feel free to show up on the 19.)  Groups, however, should call to arrange for a group project as soon as possible.

So … what are you doing on the morning of May 19? Care to join us in making a difference? This is really your chance to spend a morning joining with your friends and neighbors to improve Morgan Hill.
