Red Phone

“Dear Red Phone, I was at the Safeway gas station on Wednesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. Morgan Hill police were escorting an extremely large truck that was pulling some sort of metal container. The container was so heavy that not only was it being pulled by a large semi, it was also being pushed by two large trucks the size of tow trucks. Traffic was stopped to allow this caravan to get through. As I headed home, traffic was stopped again at Butterfield Boulevard and Dunne Avenue. What was in this container?”

Red Phone: Dear Heavy Metal, Red Phone contacted Sgt. Troy Hoefling with the Morgan Hill Police Department, who said MHPD was not involved in that incident. So, a call went out to the California Highway Patrol, which usually handles these types of escort services. Spokesman Jaime Rios said he contacted their communications center in Monterey and they do not have any records of a marked unit working a detail through the city of Morgan Hill on Wednesday May 2 and/or Thursday May 3.

“I have also contacted the Golden Gate Communications center to check to see if the trucks possibly came from up north,” Rios said. “I have not gotten a response yet, but will update you as soon as possible.”

Stay tuned, good caller.

Don’t be surprised by foreclosure

“Hi Red Phone, a friend of mine has been renting a home for nearly 10 years, but the landlord is losing the home and my friend has to move. Is there anything that can be done?”

Red Phone: Dear Evicted, unfortunately there is little your friend can do if her landlord hasn’t paid the bills. The best way to avoid being surprised is to take the initiative to keep in touch with any foreclosure. Anyone can submit a Request for Copy of Notice of Default form available at foreclosureforum.com/forms/request_notice.pdf or at a local title company.

Get the complete form notarized, and it can be recorded with the County Recorders office, and you will be notified by mail of any pending foreclosures. The Santa Clara County Recorders office is located at 70 West Hedding St., in San Jose and can be contacted at 299-5688,
