The filing period opens July 16 for residents interested in running for public office on the November ballot.

For potential City Council candidates in Morgan Hill, pick up the required candidate packet at City Hall, 17575 Peak Avenue.

For potential school board trustees, stop by the Morgan Hill Unified School District office at 15600 Concord Circle. Or, papers can be picked up at the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters, 1555 Berger Dr; Bldg. 2 in San Jose.

Candidates must be residents of the town in which they are applying for public office, be at least 18 years old and adhere to the Constitution and state laws required to hold civil office.
