On a walk-off single by Will Waxman, the Morgan Hill Mustang B team survived another day at Region 8 Pony League All-Star tournament on Monday, beating San Jose PAL 4-3.

The locals (2-1) were staring elimination in the face before Waxman’s walk-off. The victory sets up a possible matchup between the Morgan Hill A and B teams on Thursday. The Morgan Hill A team faces Los Altos/Mountain View today at 5:30 p.m. in San Jose.

On Monday, though, it was the Morgan Hill B team that did their part. Behind starting pitcher Pablo Causor threw four inning and allowed three runs.

Colton Moorehead pitched the final three innings and allowed no runs.

But it was the nail-biting seventh that continued the Mustang B team’s season.

In the bottom of the seventh inning – the first extra inning of the game – Morgan Hill rallied with one out. Cooper Callison doubled to bring up Waxman, who lined a single off the fence to drive in Callison and win 4-3.
