The 79-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s who went missing Friday morning, was located over the weekend by emergency medical service personnel near Valley Medical Center in San Jose, according to Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Cardoza.
The EMS workers said Alfred Guzman was walking and seemed disoriented, Cardoza said. “Thankfully he had no injuries,” he said. Guzman was checked out at Valley Medical before being released to his family.
The sheriff’s department sent out an alert Friday afternoon asking the public for help in finding Alfred Guzman, who is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He was described as wearing black jeans and a blue sweatshirt and he’s missing his right thumb.
Guzman left his home on the 19600 block of Dougherty Avenue in an unincorporated area of the county in his 1994 teal green GMC truck with the license plate number “4X67167” around 8:45 a.m. Friday morning. Guzman hasn’t driven a car in five years.
Guzman has Alzheimer’s and has no short- or long-term memory, and he did not take his medication today. Sheriff’s believe he’s not carrying money, ID or a cell phone.
