Jim was born in Arkansas and died peacefully in his home. As a child moved to California with his family and settled in Watsonville. A graduate of Watsonville High School Class of 1952.
Fondly known as “Arkie” to all his childhood friends. Enjoyed competition roller skating, in both couples dancing and speed skating. He was very popular and well liked. After high school Jim enlisted in the navy for 4 years. Then returned to Watsonville married Marian Keahey and raised a family. Well known for his excellent bowling ability competing in league bowling at local Watsonville Cabrillo Lanes.
He began his career working for Colgate Palmolive Soap Company. Always a very driven and dedicated company man, Jim was a salesman at heart, receiving numerous awards for top sales. Jim eventually moved to Gilroy California and went to work at Nob Hill Foods. There he worked his way up through the company to become a Senior Corporate buyer.
After retiring from Nob Hill Jim spent his retirement doing what he loved best; playing the stock market and frequenting his favorite casino to catch some action playing his favorite game of black Jack. Jim was quite the character in life. Smart, funny, and with a quick wit. “Hey I got a crazy idea” was something we heard dad often say.
He always encouraged us to take chances in life and we loved him for it. Jim will always be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help family and friends in times of need. His door was always open.
Jim is survived by former wife and lifelong friend Marian Crawford. Three children; Michael Crawford, Amanda Crawford, and Shari Crawford,10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren
