Burglary suspect Jose Torres, 21 of Morgan Hill, surrendered to authorities after police issued a warrant for his arrest last week.
Morgan Hill police think Torres was involved in at least one burglary and one attempted burglary that happened in recent weeks, but he might have been involved in up to seven similar incidents, according to Sgt. Troy Hoefling.
All the burglaries happened between mid-December and early January in southwest Morgan Hill, police said.
A fingerprint lifted from the scene of one of the crimes was positively matched to Torres, police said.
On Friday, police announced the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Torres, and police issued a $50,000 warrant for his arrest. The D.A.’s office charged him with one count of burglary and one count of attempted burglary.
Shortly after police made the announcement and publicized a photograph of the suspect, Torres surrendered to the Santa Clara County Jail, Hoefling said.
Anyone with information about the case can call Morgan Hill police at (408)779-2101, or the anonymous tip line at (408) 947-7867.
