straight road duals for the Acorns. Live Oak dominated the lower
weights with pins by Jonathan Robles-Rials (106 pounds), Austin
Langford (128), Josh Acosta (140) and Tyler Pederson (147). The
Acorns improved to 3-0 in the Mount Hamilton Division.
Live Oak scored five pins and received a big decision by Amy Fearnside to beat Santa Teresa 39-24 Tuesday in the first of three straight road duals for the Acorns.
Live Oak, now 3-0 in the Mount Hamilton Division and ranked No. 14 in the section, visits No. 13 Overfelt next Tuesday and No. 18 Oak Grove on Feb. 1.
Against Santa Teresa (1-2), the Acorns dominated in the lower weights with pins by Jonathan Robles-Rials (106 pounds), Austin Langford (128), Josh Acosta (140) and Tyler Pederson (147).
Amy Fearnside defeated Matt Middlestead, the No. 8-ranked 106-pounder in the section, by 7-3 score at 115 pounds, as Live Oak built a large enough cushion to offset losses in six of the remaining seven weights.
Derek Peralta won by fall at 184 pounds, also for the Acorns.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Sobrato turned an early 12-point deficit into a five-point lead midway through the fourth quarter but could not hold off Prospect on Tuesday in Santa Teresa Division play.
The Panthers scored eight points in the final two minutes to escape 42-39 at Sobrato High School.
Alyssa Firato led the Bulldogs with 17 points, 16 rebounds and five steals, and Jessica Westall added 10 points and five rebounds. Jordan Smith chipped in eight points, including two 3-pointers, for the Bulldogs (4-12, 1-5), who nearly strung together back-to-back wins.
Alyah Sablan had 12 points and five rebounds for Prospect (5-11, 2-4).
- Live Oak lost 29-23 to Andrew Hill in a defensive battle Tuesday in San Jose.
It was the Acorns’ fourth straight loss in West Valley Division play.
Courtney Thomson scored eight points for Live Oak (4-11, 1-5), and Danielle Horning five.
BOYS SOCCER
Live Oak allowed three goals in the second half and fell 4-1 to Oak Grove, the Acorns’ first loss in four Santa Teresa Division.
Jesse Martinez scored in the first half for Live Oak (5-2-3, 2-2-1), which dropped two points behind the Eagles (6-4-1, 3-2) for second place.

The Lions improved to 8-0-2 overall and 3-0-2 in the conference, while the Bulldogs dropped to 1-7-2 and 0-4-1.
