It’s that time of the year again, to celebrate Morgan Hill.
The Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center announced last month its picks for the Celebrate Morgan Hill Awards of Morgan Hill’s in six categories: woman of the year – Loritta Bonfante Johnson, man of the year – Mario Banuelos, educator of the year – Steve Kinsella, business of the year – D.R. Domenichini Construction, student of the year – Eunice Kim, and volunteer of the year – Jan Dean.
Since 1957, the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce has given out awards to members of the community for “Celebrate Morgan Hill.” Nominations are distributed throughout Morgan Hill with the nomination processes beginning at the end of August and early September of each year. Award recipients are chosen by the end of October by a committee formed through the Chamber.
They are chosen based on what they have done within the community, not necessarily how many people nominated them, said Chris Giusiana, Chamber of Commerce President/CEO.
The award recipients will be honored at an awards dinner banquet Jan. 28 and receive a plaque.
