Lincoln had just enough in the second half to beat visiting Live Oak 53-47 Saturday in a clash between two of four teams tied for first in the West Valley Division.

Eddie Plascencia scored a team-high 13 points, and Austin Carvalho chipped in 12 for the Acorns (6-9, 3-2), who rallied in the fourth quarter after trailing 41-33 in the third.

  • Sobrato made Saturday’s Mount Hamilton Division game against Santa Teresa interesting for three quarters but could not keep pace with the reigning Division I section champs.

The Bulldogs lost 58-43 despite an 18-point effort by Travis Saenz and 11 points from Ben Vater.

Trevor Priest scored 20 points, and Jason Garabetian had 11 for the Saints (6-7, 3-2).

Goalkeeper Maggie Cropp collected her third goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough for Sobrato to cool off surging Leigh on Friday in San Jose.

The Longhorns scored two goals in the second half and won 3-1 to remain undefeated in the Mount Hamilton Division at 3-0-1 and 8-1-1 overall.

The loss wrapped a promising but fruitless week for the Bulldogs (3-4-3, 1-2-1), who were tied with the top two teams in the conference – Santa Teresa, Leigh – after one half Wednesday and Friday.
