The Oakland Raiders have fired coach Hue Jackson, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.

Jackson’s firing was confirmed by Bay Area News Group columnist Monte Poole a short time ago.

There aren’t any other details at this point. However, Jackson was slated to meet with incoming general manager Reggie McKenzie to discuss Jackson’s future on the heels of his first season as the Raiders head coach. Oakland finished 8-8.

Jackson joined the Raiders in 2010, first as the offensive coordinator. The late Al Davis promoted Jackson to head coach after he fired Tom Cable at the conclusion of the 2010 season.

Jackson said after the Raiders’ season-ending loss to the San Diego Chargers that he wanted more power and that the team needed an attitude adjustment.

It’s unclear whether that played into the decision made by McKenzie or owner Mark Davis to part ways with Jackson.

McKenzie will be introduced as the Raiders general manager at a news conference today at 2 p.m. in Alameda. At that time, McKenzie no doubt will talk about the decision to fire Jackson.

It’s possible that McKenzie will hire Winston Moss, also a former Raiders player and someone who has interviewed with the Raiders in the past.

Moss currently is the linebackers coach for the Green Bay Packers.
