Groceries were flying Thursday morning as courtesy clerks from 13 Nob Hill Foods stores vied to grab the 2006 District Bagging Contest championship title and a chance to win $250 at the Nob Hills Foods store in Gilroy.
Each courtesy clerk contestant first competed with courtesy clerking co-workers at their store. A store-level win led to the district contest. Contests are judged on speed, item arrangement, distribution of weight, efficient use of bags and, of course, professional appearance/attire.
The bagging contest is Raley’s way of celebrating its courtesy clerks, who help provide the company’s customer service.
Raley’s has stores in Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Hollister as well as Campbell, Capitola, Los Gatos, Monterey, Salinas, San Jose, Scotts Valley and Watsonville.
Raley’s is a privately-owned supermarket chain with headquarters in West Sacramento.
