The 6-foot senior forward averaged 4.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals for the Acorns this winter.

Aside from snubs, sixth place guarantees little when it comes to all-league honors.

An exception was made for Jessica Westall and Alyssa Firato.

Sobrato’s talented frontcourt tandem dominated once again in their final season together and also stood out individually in the minds of Santa Teresa Division coaches, who voted the 5-foot, 11-inch bigs first-team all-league.

The Bulldogs were without Firato for a good portion of the season after the junior suffered a concussion in their Dec. 1 season opener against Christopher. Sobrato finished 4-10 in league and 7-17 overall.

But when they were on the court, Westall and Firato shined.

A third-year starter, Westall capped a solid high school career by leading the team in scoring with 254 points, 10.6 per game. She was coming off an all-league volleyball season in which she earned Senior of the Year in the Santa Teresa Division.

Firato, who also made first-team all-league in 2010-11, averaged 16.6 points, good for third highest in the league. She is among 12 varsity veterans who could return in 2012-13.

West Valley Division

Live Oak’s Danielle Horning was named to the All-West Valley Division second team.

The 6-foot senior forward led the Acorns with 194 rebounds (8.8 per game) and averaged 4.5 points and 1.4 steals. Her best nights came in back-to-back games Jan. 24-26, when she totaled 11 points and 15 rebounds in a 45-34 win over Yerba Buena, and 11 and 13 in a 55-43 loss to San Jose.

Horning also made second-team All-Santa Teresa Division for field hockey in 2011 with six goals and seven assists.
