On trial for murder, Travis Hoffmeister stands in court Thursday afternoon during the first recess of the trial. A judge did not allow photos during the proceedings.

A jury Thursday convicted Travis J. Hoffmeister of murdering 20-year-old Hollister resident Christella Macias in June 2007.

San Benito County jurors convicted Hoffmeister, 27, a week after the trial began. Hoffmeister bludgeoned Macias to death and left her body on C Street, where it was discovered by a resident of the westside Hollister cul-de-sac.

Jurors deliberated Thursday for two hours and 40 minutes before returning with the verdict in the late afternoon, said Deputy District Attorney Patrick Palacios, who oversaw the prosecution.

Hoffmeister faces 25 years to life in prison.
