Morgan Hill Pony Baseball’s 12-and-under Broncos won the Fremont Memorial Day Bash Tournament, beating the Blossom Valley Mustangs, Fremont Blue and Fremont Red teams.
Morgan Hill played five games in three days and was 2-2 going into the championship game on Memorial Day. The locals defeated Fremont Red 8-7 to win the title.
Morgan Hill was led by strong pitching from Ryan Byrne, Jeremiah Dixon, Cole Dunne, Joseph Luna, Damon Rodriguez, Grant Schaper and Jacob Tallez. The standout catcher was Gavin Vallez. Ben Buckman anchored the infield, and Chuck Dougherty, Max Harris and Gabe Miller cleaned up in the outfield. All 12 players contributed with well-placed hits and aggressive base-running. Their strong defense and determination contributed to their ultimate victory.
With a team made up of mostly 11-year-olds, Morgan Hill White was able to hold its own against strong teams that were predominantly made up of 12-year-olds. The local team was put together with players from several of the Morgan Hill Pony Baseball Bronco division teams, just for this tournament. They were coached by Rich Dunne, Tony Rodriguez and Mike Vallez.

The Morgan Hill Pony Baseball 7- and 8-year-old Pinto division played its Memorial Day Tournament during Memorial Day weekend with a great turnout and some very exciting baseball being played.
Four teams of 12 players played three games each. All of the games started with an introduction of the teams and our national anthem. On Memorial Day, a moment of silence was led by coach Eric Rosa to honor our fallen countrymen.
The teams played great all weekend, and medals were given to each player at the end of their final game. The Orange team was the powerhouse, going undefeated and scoring 28 runs over the three games.
All in all, it was a fun time for all with some great Morgan Hill Pony Baseball complete with a barbecue, fun music, Little Dot races for the younger kids, lots of cheering and a couple of hilarious parents and coaches dance-offs between innings which caused a lot of cheering and a ton of laughter.
