Charter School of Morgan Hill’s annual report, Morgan Hill Unified’s student expulsion and suspension reports, a review of the latest state test scores and an update on Measure G projects are on tap for the Oct. 17 school board meeting.
Closed session begins at 4:30 p.m. and public session will follow at about 6 p.m. at the district office located at 15600 Concord Circle.
In the first item of general business, CSMH Executive Director Paige Cisewski, Principal Susan Pfefferlen, and selected CSMH staff will present the charter school’s annual report to the board.
That will be followed by a presentation from Linda Row, MHUSD’s Director of Student Services and Enrollment, on the district’s suspension and expulsion data for the 2016-17 school year.
Up next is Glen Webb, Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment, who will give his analysis of the district’s scores on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress Online Tests, which are now in their third year.
After that, Casino Fajardo, Director Construction and Modernization, will provide board members with an update on the Measure G projects at various school sites.
Consent items
Items listed under consent are considered routine and are grouped in a single vote by the board unless otherwise requested. Those items include:
• $12,850 contract (Measure G) with Clearly Consultants “to provide supplemental geotechnical analysis for Britton Middle School Transformation Project.”
• Emergency repair and replacement of fire alarm panel, wiring and devices for Charter School of Morgan Hill (Encinal site). Deferred maintenance will cover costs but total not included.
• Emergency repair/replacement of the well for Sobrato High School. “Recently we began having issues with the irrigation system completing the cycles. After troubleshooting and discussing the issues with our consultant, it was determined that the issue is either the pump is blown or the well casing has collapsed,” the agenda item states. “Staff will be required to work with PG&E in order to perform the repair and/or replacement as there are high power electrical lines right above that feed power along Burnett Avenue. Under the circumstances, immediate repair and/or replacement is necessary to avoid losing the landscaping and athletic fields and it is necessary to move forward without bidding the work.” Funds, not totaled in the agenda, will come from the Restricted Routine Maintenance.
• $437,255.50 contract with Premier Builders (one-time discretionary funds) for the library and classroom conversion into lab space for El Toro Health Science Academy.
• $46,682.45 contract with Naviance, Inc. (LCFF and site state lottery funds) “to further enhance our student’s college and career readiness opportunities and skills.”
• $79,940 contract with Wonder Kids (consortium budget) to provide childcare for Community Adult School students.
• $219,920 in special education services for 2017-18 school year added to first interim budget.
