The Rotary Club of Morgan Hill honored 12 local students with Outstanding Student Awards at a Feb. 15 awards luncheon.
Ten middle school or high school students and two elementary school students were given the honor by the local Rotarians.
Those students were: Kamyar Nekoui, Ann Sobrato High School; Molly Waddington, Britton Middle School; Beatrice Ruiz, Central High School; Katie Lang, Charter School of Morgan Hill; Jesus Guzman, Community Adult School; Tiffany Chen, Jackson Academy of Math and Music; Brooke Waller, Live Oak High School; Karlie Lema, Martin Murphy Middle School; Jaelyn Litzinger, Oakwood School; Bella Della Maggiore, St. Catherine’s School; Adrianna Saffell, Barrett Elementary School; and Layla Goulter, P.A. Walsh Elementary School.
Teachers in their respective schools select the students to be honored. Criteria for the awards include academics, leadership and character, according to the Rotarians.
At the Feb. 15 luncheon, each student spoke about their career goals. Those goals included cardiologist, geneticist, veterinarian and computer scientist.
Students received a $50 scholarship and a certificate honoring them as an outstanding student.
