247 Workspace Hosts ‘Grand Opening’ Celebration

247 Workspace, the online office-furniture seller recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the Bay Area, served oysters and gave tours to city officials, business leaders and international guests on Thursday at its new corporate headquarters on Madrone Parkway in Morgan Hill.

It was all part of the company’s five-hour “ribbon-cutting” ceremony – a chance to “show off” its new 42,000 square-foot facility, said sales representative David Ching.

Sounding like a throwback to crazy dot-com days, Ching said workers at 247 Workspace enjoy an unlimited supply of free ice cream, a full-size gym and a kitchen. No wonder the San Francisco Business Times ranked the company among the top three in the Best Places to Work in the Bay Area 2006 survey.

“It’s all part of the reason 247 is one of the best places to work,” Ching said.

With projected revenues of $16 million for 2006, 247 (pronounced twenty-four-seven) Workspace was recently named one of the fasted growing privately held companies in Silicon Valley.

In June, the company moved from smaller digs in Los Gatos after the city of Morgan Hill pitched a deal worth $800,000 in incentive payments over the next decade.

In exchange for the financial reward, the company of about 30 employees must make “good faith” efforts to hire Morgan Hill residents and make its facility available for community use.

Guests Thursday’s party included international associates from the company’s oversees operations and representatives from Silicon Valley firms that buy desks, chairs and other furniture from 247 Workspace.
