Leo Goforth died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Kaiser Santa Teresa Hospital after a short illness. He was 70.

He moved to Gilroy from Morgan Hill in 1958 when he married his wife, Norie. He worked for Bell and Griffin in Gilroy and then Western Tile in Gilroy for 25 years. He recently worked as a ranch supervisor for Don Christopher for the past 15 years.

Mr. Goforth was Past Exalted Ruler for Gilroy Elks from 1977-78. He volunteered in Gourmet Alley since the first Garlic Festival in 1979 and for seven years was head chef of the pepper steak sandwiches. He also was an avid San Francisco 49er fan.

He was the husband of 47 years to Norie Goforth of Hollister; father of Mike Goforth of Middletown, and the late Brad Goforth; grandfather of Jami Kamopa of North Carolina and Shannon Goforth of Placerville; brother of Earl Goforth and his wife Vivian of Morgan Hill; nephew of Merle Clark of Turlock and Vern Clark of Salinas; godfather of Tony Rodgers of Sacramento; and also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services were Thursday, June 2, at the Gilroy Presbyterian Church under direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
