Tree lighting ceremony will be on the front lawn of the
Community and Cultural Center
Morgan Hill – With the Thanksgiving holiday next week, Morgan Hill is moving into holiday mode and will kick off the festivities with the Dec. 2 15th annual Holiday Lights Parade, sponsored by the Morgan Hill Kiwanis.

Every year since 1991, the city has celebrated the end-of-the-year festivities with a large parade, including bands, floats, local groups of dancers and martial arts experts and many other entries from the community. This year the parade will begin at 5:30pm.

There will be several new elements to the parade this year, including the direction of the parade and the location of the tree lighting ceremony, which, led by Mayor Dennis Kennedy, concludes the parade.

This year, parade entries will move south from First Street to Fifth Street – southbound in the northbound lanes instead of northbound in the northbound lanes.

Following the parade, the annual tree lighting ceremony will be held, but this year, the ceremony will take place on the front lawn of the Community and Cultural Center at the intersection of Monterey Road and Dunne Avenue. The owners of the Music Tree and students from Suzanne’s Music School will lead caroling around the tree. Lana’s Dance Studio will perform to holiday music in the amphitheater at the center, and the Community Center recreation leaders will offer face painting and balloons for kids.

Applications to enter a group or business in the parade are available at the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce, the Morgan Hill Downtown Association or by contacting parade chair Barbara Kimmich at 408-612-2901. Volunteer Parade Marshals are needed, anyone who is interested is asked to contact Kimmich.
